Carving Pumpkins!!!

Our annual pumpkin carving family home evening occured last night!! It is one of my children's favorite nights of the year! Earlier in the month we went to the farmer's market and everyone picked a pumpkin. Last night everyone carved their own - assitance from mom & dad for the little ones! It was a lot of fun and I appreciate the enthusiasm of my sweet family!
Riley showing off her goulish creation!! 13 is still young enough to love carving pumpkins!!
Scott told grandma to draw a face on her pumpkin. We learned something last night - apparently alzheimer's diminishes a person's ability to draw a face. It ended up more like a picasso painting but my children decreed it the best one!! She really enjoyed the entire night; laughed a lot and seemed very happy to be involved! We love you grandma!

Craigo and his creation!! He is probably our most enthusiastic pumpkin carver! Even when his pumpkin was done he spent a great deal of time chopping up discarded pieces of pumpkin. It was very cute!!
Here is Lou Lou and her jack-o-lantern!! Last night was an extra special night for Andi! She spent a great deal of time doing extra chores around the house in order to earn a much desired umbrella! On Sat. she had finally met the needed quota and purchased her Dora umbrella. Last night it rained!!!! She was actually able to use her umbrella for it's intended purpose when she ran to the store with me for tea candles :) She was very happy!! When the carving, picture taking, lighting, etc. was finished - we ended the evening with peanut butter chocolate cake and milk!!!! A great night all the way around!

  1. I think each of the children resemble their pumpkin's expression in the photos! :) How fun. I agree, grandma gets the ghoul grand prize!
